· POSTERS THAT SPEAK OF COLOMBIA: The Colombian artist, Marta Granados will participate in the 14th annual Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition (CIIPE), from September 8 to October 14, that gathers the works of 86 artists from 34 countries. She is the Honor Laureate at the most important poster exhibition in the United States, where 50 of her large format pieces will be shown at the Museum of the University of Colorado. Granados has published three books on Colombia, and she says that she “needs to tell about and reveal its treasures to the entire world, so that they will value it more and erase mistaken images, and its patrimony will be visually expressed.”

· A COLOMBIAN HELPS TO DISCOVER A GENE RELATED TO TUBERCULOSIS: after three years of work, Mauricio Rojas, member of the Cellular and Immunogenetic Immunology Group at the University of Antioquia, together with his colleagues at the University of Harvard (United States), discovered a gene related to the development of tuberculosis in humans. Medicines have been developed for treatment that activate the production of the protein generated by the Ipr1 gene, which helps the body respond well to a possible attack by that type of bacteria.

· WORLD SKATING CHAMPIONS: the members of the Colombian roller speed skating team who participated in the world championship in Suzhou, China, made away with most of the medals. Colombia dominated with 39 medals, 17 gold, 10 silver, and 12 bronze, followed by the United States (18, 13 gold) and Italy (32, 8 gold).

· BOLIVANRIAN VICTORY IN COLOMBIA: with a decorous presentation, the Colombian delegation came in second place as medalists at the end of the 25th Bolivarian Games 2005, which took place in the cities of Armenia, Pereira, Cartagena and Bogotá. The host country won 173 gold medals, compared to the 179 golden prizes obtained by Venezuela, in competitions where 66 Bolivarian records were broken in different sports. Third place went to Peru, fourth to Ecuador, fifth to Bolivia and Panama came in sixth place. 2200 athletes participated in the event in 30 disciplines and over 1500 medals were awarded.
